Big stretches of the Alaska Highway through the Yukon were under construction; torn apart with a gravel surface as shown here, and often washboardy. Other parts had big potholes, or were bent up and down as a result of frost heaving. The cost of keeping the highway maintained for so little traffic must be huge - but the only other way to travel is on a bush plane.
