Just north of Haines Junction the Alaska Highway was undergoing major reconstruction where it passes round the southern end of Lake Kluane.

          We rattled and shook for 15 miles. No fun. We saw one unlucky RV stopped with its owner lying underneath trying to patch a tank pierced by flying gravel. We were glad we drove slowly -- we let everyone else pass us.
