The shorebirds that live here were having a final feeding frenzy as the waters slowly drained out of the wetlands.

Because this mindless destruction of habitat made us so angry, even though this is not a slide show about birds, we thought we'd show just a few pictures of the birds whose home was being bulldozed into oblivion. You'll see them next.
