At this point on the trip Pat quit car birding in favor of birding on foot so she could combine birdwatching with exercise. This also let her control the amount of time she spent birding. It was easy at LaMaria, with plenty of walking options through the beautiful countryside and around the lake. Birds were everywhere.

Having done without a vehicle for so many years, we find we prefer not to ride unless it's the only option.
