We also visited the Macauley Salmon Hatchery, part of DIPAC (Douglas Island Pink and Chum) which was formed in 1974 to reverse the depletion of Juneau's fishing resources. This photo shows the hatchery's fish ladder where the salmon climb up into tanks when ready to spawn.
