This Chukar  was hanging around the World Center for Birds of Prey near Boise, Idaho when we visited there. (4/07)

Bigger than quail, these funky-looking gamebirds have become established in the dry mountainous areas of the west. In the east and some western states, Chukars are farm raised and then released for hunting.
