
These Woods Storks are surveying their marshland home near Mazatlan, Sinaloa the morning after the wetlands were drained. You can imagine they're thinking "what do we do now?" Soon after we took this photograph, the birds winged away from the area. (2/07)
This particular wetlands was being bulldozed in preparation for more tourist development. An example of the way in which the habitat for many wading and shore birds is slowly disappearing.
