As we drove further south, the landscape changed from gravel flats criss-crossed by fast moving rivers and streams to scenic mountain vistas. Here we can just see the Nenana River as it leaves the foothills of the Alaska Range. The Nenana is a major tributary of the Tanana which, as previously indicated, is a primary source for the mighty Yukon River.
