- Work at color. It's almost everything, though texture and pattern follow close behind.

- Be adventurous. Consider working on your own design.

- Be afraid to try. Once you get the hang of it, it really isn't that hard.
- Avoid hand piecing and quilting. It's meditative, enormously satisfying, and can be done on the fly whenever you have a few spare minutes.
