- Think early on about how you want to die. Put in place safeguards, arrangements, or plans to ensure that's how it goes when the time comes.
- Make sure you (or your loved one) has a competent advocate when you/they are sick of a terminal illness. Someone who can do research, give advice, question doctors, and offer advice or suggestions for your decision-making process.
- Ask for what you need. Don't hold back because you think you'll owe. People want to help you, and their life will be enriched by being part of your dying.
