The villages along the Durango highway also function as truck stops. We stayed 2 nights in the settlement of Capilla del Taxte, staying at the Hotel Villa Blanca, shown here.

A great Mexico experience, this hotel was built by some Germans 50 years ago. 2 years ago it was turned over to the village to continue its operation. The dinner menu still included sauerkraut. The food was excellent. The pillows were terrible - thankfully our wagonmasters told us to bring our own.
