We visited Craigdarroch Castle, a Victorian-era McMansion built on the edge of Victoria in the
1890's by B.C. coal baron Robert Dunsmuir. The building is now owned by the
Craigdarroch Castle Historical Museum Society and funded by its
150,000 annual visitors.
The building interior has 39 rooms, furnished lavishly in the turn-of-the-century style. We found various artisans working on restoring the house to its original state.
