There's a 45' - 50' tidal drop on the Bay of Fundy coast, which leaves huge mudflats at low tide. These are evidently filled with interesting critters though we didn't have time to go check it out.

Apparently the shape of the bay amplifies the normal swishing in and out of the tide (it's called "resonance" we learned) to produce the highest tide differentials in the world.
