Peyto Lake is fed from melt off the Peyto Glacier. Here you see the melt flowing through an alluvial fan created from glacial till (a mix of clay, sand, pebbles and boulders.) The melt dumps rock flour-the finest sediment-into Peyto Lake. The flour is responsible for the beautiful color.
